The Nokia 808 PureView, which was first revealed in its full glory at the MWC, will soon be available in India and Russia for photography enthusiasts who have been awaiting its arrival. The company has announced that the phone is expected to be made available in the aforementioned countries and other select markets in May.

Besides the 41MP camera sensor, the PureView smartphone tags along imaging algorithms, especially developed by the Finnish manufacturer to improve the image quality. Like most other devices from Nokia, it features a Carl Zeiss lens and boasts of employing pixel oversampling technology that adds to the clarity by compressing the information captured by 7 pixels into 1 pixel. Taking images in low lit environments or from a distance should not be a problem either.

“PureView has completely raised the bar on imaging performance for the whole smartphone industry – and Nokia is not stopping here,” expressed Jo Harlow, Head of Smart Devices at Nokia. “We’re going to carry on developing PureView for our future smartphones in ways that will again revolutionize the imaging experience.”

As the pictures taken by the phone’s camera could be saved in compact file sizes, users can easily upload them on social networking websites or forward these via emails and MMS. Dolby Digital Plus for 5.1 channel surround sound and the Dolby Headphone technology team up with Nokia Rich Recording to not only deliver, but also record stereo quality audio. Needless to say, it allows playing as well as shooting full HD 1080p videos.

The Nokia 808 PureView price and availability details have been kept under wraps for now.
