Sprint Samsung Exclaim with ScanLife 2D barcode application

ScanLife 2D Barcode Scanbuy recently made public that its ScanLife 2D barcode application will now arrive preloaded on Samsung Exclaim from Sprint. The United States has received its first wireless phone to be shipped with the ScanLife technology. There will be additional devices preloaded with this application in the near future.

With the help of ScanLife, users can scan 2D barcodes with a regular camera phone to automatically display a specific mobile Web site, launch a video, and more. The Samsung Exclaim has the added advantage of possessing social networking sites so users can share that information via Facebook or MySpace.

Sprint initially offered the ScanLife service to its customers as a downloadable application in November 2008 and has experienced considerable interest from its subscribers ever since. This application has been downloaded by thousands of people in order to scan codes found in Sprint marketing collateral. Additionally, there are many who have created their own free personal ScanLife codes which link to popular networking sites and contact information.

“This is an enormous milestone for the development and adoption of mobile barcode technology in the United States,” commented Jonathan Bulkeley, chief executive officer of Scanbuy. “The demand for this technology by users and publishers has been growing rapidly, and placing the ScanLife application into new phones will make the experience easier than ever.”

The ScanLife Code Management Platform can be used by marketers, media providers and individuals to design 2D barcodes. These barcodes can be placed on any physical media, for instance a magazine ad or a business card, to give quick access to mobile content such as product discounts or contact information. Scanning barcodes simplifies things as there is no need to type lengthy Web addresses or search for content by keywords. The ScanLife platform generates EZcodes and Datamatrix codes which the application for Samsung Exclaim will read.

Those who own Samsung Exclaim via Sprint can find ScanLife under Applications in the My Stuff folder. Other handset users can download ScanLife for free.
