Sprint publicizes Samsung Instinct HD

Sprint Samsung Instinct HD There has been a lot of speculation about the Samsung Instinct HD and finally Sprint has announced its availability from September 27. Last summer Sprint had launched the predecessor of this device, the Samsung Instinct.

The Instinct HD is equipped with an intuitive user interface and high-speed connectivity features. The mobile phone sports a 5 megapixel camera and video camcorder with HD video out and flash capabilities. The user experience is further elevated with the built-in accelerometer, ambient light sensor and proximity sensor.

Kevin Packingham, senior vice president of product development for Sprint, stated, “When Instinct was announced last summer it received tremendous praise from our customers and showcased the power of application integration and a world class user-interface. Instinct HD adds to that legacy with the addition of a host of video services that are unmatched in the industry.”

The Samsung handset measures 4.63” x 2.28” x 0.50” and weighs around 4.01 ounces. It packages a 1.78 x 2.66 inches TFT display with 320 x 480 pixels resolution and a Li-ion battery that offers 5.8 hours of talktime. The Instinct HD is a premium device for people yearning for an ultimate connectivity handset. It incorporates Opera Mobile 9.7 Web and true HTML browser. Further, the mobile phone is inclusive of Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g, advanced stereo Bluetooth wireless technology and corporate and POP3 email including AOL, Gmail, Yahoo! along with MSN/Windows Live Hotmail.

“Samsung Instinct HD ups the ante with the full Opera Mobile 9.7 Web browser, WiFi connectivity and a 5-megapixel camera and camcorder, which allows the user to take high resolution pictures and HD-quality video. What sets Instinct HD apart even more is the ability to view those pictures and video on your HDTV or other HD-compatible monitor through the device’s HDTV out connection. These improvements raise the Instinct handset portfolio to a whole new level,” commented Omar Khan, senior vice president of strategy and product management for Samsung Mobile.

The latest Samsung handset packages Sprint’s most recent Any Mobile, Anytime service that offers unlimited calling to any wireless phone regardless of the carrier at no additional charge with Everything Data plans from Sprint that costs $69.99 per month. Users can also avail to the Simply Everything plan that includes unlimited calling, unlimited text and unlimited data including e-mail, social networking, Web browsing, GPS navigation, Sprint TV, streaming music, NFL Mobile Live and NASCAR Sprint Cup Mobile for only $99.99 per month.

From September 27, users can buy the handset from Sprint’s exclusive national retail partner, Best Buy Mobile. Beginning October 11, 2009 subscribers can purchase the Instinct HD via Sprint retail channels and also online for $249.99 with a new two-year service agreement after a $100 mail-in rebate.
