Sprint Motorola Slider

After lying in the shadows for a while, slider QWERTY handsets are venturing out in the open and we may just see one such Sprint Motorola device soon. Apparently, Motorola and Sprint are working together to bring this smartphone to the market.

According to news strewn across the web, the handset is deployed with a slider 5-row QWERTY keypad with dedicated arrow keys and random buttons. It may feature a qHD display, though this is just speculation. Considering that the device may operate on the Sprint network, certain native apps like Music could be pre-installed on the phone as well.

Another reasonable guess could be that the Motorola smartphone will operate on the carrier’s 4G LTE network in the US. Moreover, it appears to be buttonless with just the touchscreen coming into play. All major functions like opening the homescreen and shuffling back and forth may be accessible via swipes. This idea is consistent with reports about Google’s plans of pulling menu buttons off devices.

This makes the phone somewhat distinct, as compared to handsets churned out by other manufacturers like LG or Samsung, says Android Central. This interface design also seems to be contradicting Google’s standard layout for ICS devices. There appears to be some amicability brewing between the two aforementioned companies, after their upcoming partnership was announced in January. This news was revealed by an individual named Va1ha11a, as seen on the site’s Rumored Devices forum.

For now there’s nothing much to talk about the phone, though it would be interesting to see what the Sprint Motorola slider phone has in store for fans.
