Sprint announces the availability of the Motorola i580 rugged mobile phone

Motorola i580 phone Sprint has added a new device called the Motorola i580 to its line-up of rugged mobile phones. It is the revamped version of the previously launched Motorola i580 iDEN phone. Dressed in bright yellow color, the clamshell device has been launched with new and improved features over the previous one.

Encased in a rubber-like material, the Motorola i580 phone’s interior linings and seals protects the speakerphone, keys, battery and antenna. The phone features the Military Standard 810F specification that helps the device to withstand dust, rain, shock, vibration and extreme temperatures.

The Motorola i580 phone features a 1.9 inch internal display screen and a 1.3 megapixel camera with video recording feature. The phone supports GPS and integrates various navigation functions like turn-by-turn driving directions, mapping locations and conduct local searches directly from the device. Besides this, the phone packs in various java applications like Accuweather, Photoshare, TeleNav IKTV and Mobile Email.

Additionally, Sprint offers various services such as Direct Connect, Direct TalkSM, International Direct ConnectSM, Group Connect and NextMail. The phone supports expansion of memory upto 1GB and is powered by 1640 mAh battery.

The Motorola i580 is available via Sprint for $119 with a two year contract agreement.
