Spice Android KitKat powered Stellar 600 smartphone launched at Rs 9999

A new Spice Stellar 600 Android KitKat smartphone has been introduced in India and it has quite a reasonable tag of Rs 9999 attached to it. As you can clearly see, gone are the days of inexpensive handsets arriving with older versions of Android instead of the latest, thanks to the Moto E.

Now every manufacturer knows that in order to win fans in the low- to mid-range segment, cheap hardware like the Spice Stellar Mi-600 has no excuse for running on anything older than KitKat. Google should be happy considering that it is intent on going the disciplined Apple way and having as many Android devices as possible simultaneously running on its latest software version.

The closest and latest rival to the Stellar 600, which is incidentally Spice’s first KitKat phone, is the Intex Aqua i14 that is priced at Rs 7090 and has a 5-inch display as well as a decent 8MP camera. The former offers some pretty competitive features for its cost, such a 6-inch display, 8MP snapper, 3.2MP front lens, quad core chipset and KitKat onboard.

Three areas where the Spice Stellar 600 don’t success at impressing us include the 4 hours of talk time it provides, its screen resolution and its measly 4GB of RAM. The phone will land in the Indian market with a smart flip cover and a free utility dock with a four-in-one stylus pen.
