Call it the Sony Xperia X or the Odin, it doesn’t make much of a difference. The handset that was earlier named after the Norse god will now be launched under a new avatar altogether. The company doesn’t seem to be making much of an effort to stop upcoming launch details from being leaked, considering that word about the Yuga taking up the Xperia Z branding is out too.
The Xperia X will seemingly be dubbed the L35 and it is expected to be released in region-specific variants as well. Plunging into the speculated specifications, it may sport a 5-inch display which will ooze out visuals at a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. This feature might have given the device much more attention had its launch taken place last year. But currently, it will just be joining the HTC Droid DNA and the ZTE Nubia Z5 under this category.
Apparently, it will be taking advantage of the Android Jelly Bean OS and at the same time will be powered by a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro running at a clock speed of 1.5GHz. Users will be provided with 32GB of inbuilt memory in addition to 2GB of RAM. There will also be a microSD card slot in case they feel the need to expand the memory. A 13MP rear-facing camera wrapped with features such as auto focus and an LED flash will take care of users’ picture-clicking needs.
Most of the handset’s specifications are similar to those of the Yuga. Maybe this is why both were expected to be out in separate markets. However, it looks like the pair will be available globally. Android Authority cites Tech By Words and Ameblo, as the sources of this news.
The Sony Xperia X will be put up on the pedestal at the CES 2013 next month. This will be followed by an immediate launch in certain European countries and regions of Asia and North America.
