Sony to introduce software update for Xperia T and TX with Miracast mirroring

The new Sony software upgrade for the Xperia T and the Xperia TX is bound to go global sometime this week. The latest Android 4.0.4 firmware update will introduce a bunch of new features and added functionality for the devices. The former’s price was made official last month.

Users can look forward to the Screen Mirroring experience that wirelessly displays the entire interface of the gadget through Wi-Fi Miracast, on a TV screen. On the other hand, to access this service, handset owners require a Wi-Fi enabled television or a compatible Wi-Fi dongle.

When the screen has been in sleep mode for a few minutes, the Wi-Fi, data traffic and most of the applications in use will be temporarily disabled. This leads to a significant increase in the standby time. However, the basic functions like receiving calls, messages and notifications will continue to remain active. To wake the phone from standby just one touch would suffice.

As per the official Sony blog, Xperia T and TX users will also be exposed to a host of media applications. For example, the album makes use of Mobile Bravia Engine to view photos and videos delivering higher contrast, depth and sharpness. The SenseME slideshow option provides music well suited to the present image’s ambience.

Photo Capability

The Walkman app’s interface changes colors to reflect the track’s album art, while users can watch programs from the dashboard with a small viewing window with the help of the movies app. Utilizing the power of the latest generation dual core Snapdragon processor is said to render tasks like downloading, multitasking, playing games and capturing essential moments, effortless.

Those seeking to have unbothered conversations, especially when in a noisy environment, will find the HD Voice support to be an apt solution. It transmits a broader spectrum of the human voice leading and filters out any distracting background commotion.

The release date of Sony’s software update is still under wraps. Although once the upgrade is ready, the company will make it available for download over the air, via PC Companion and Bridge for Mac.

Here are the specifications at a glance:
