Sony Xperia Arc

Arriving as bad news to fans, the Sony Xperia ray, arc and neo O2 ICS update has been canceled. According to the carrier, the testing did not yield satisfactory results and the new OS version did not enhance the user experience.

As the network operator puts it, the software test is generally conducted as soon as a particular company releases an upgrade. In the case of the aforesaid devices, their speed and working was affected with the overhaul. Only after a particular phone passes the software testing, does it get approved for an upgrade. Minor issues are repaired with the help of a dedicated team working towards it.

Considering that the impact of the new version is irreversible unless the phone is completely restored, the operator decided to withhold the update to these handsets. In this regard, O2 customers wielding these devices will not get a taste of Android 4.0 for their smartphones.

For now, the handsets will operate on the Gingerbread platform that the service provider believes is very stable.  Software testing has been going on for  the Xperia range  since the last few months.  The carrier says that there are no new software versions planned for them in the near future. As per O2, this decision has been made keeping users a priority.
