Sony hints at imminent Honami launch via tweet

In spite of knowing that the Sony Honami (or Xperia Z1) has been in the rumors for quite some time and most of its aspects have been subjected to various predictions, the Japanese manufacturer doesn’t seem to be bothered at all. In fact, we believe that Sony appears to be pleased with the attention its upcoming flagship has been receiving considering that it has gone ahead and described the device as the ‘smartphone everyone’s been talking about’ on its official Twitter page.

The company adds to the curiosity by concluding the tweet with ‘not long now’, but makes no effort to reveal any specific dates. We’re still rooting for a September 4 launch by the way. And then there is also an image sporting the phone’s power button, with ‘#bestofSony’ inscribed on it. So we’re guessing this has to be the much-publicized Sony Honami.

Coming to what we have been told about the smartphone so far, the device will be seen flaunting a 5-inch full HD display similar to the Xperia Z, except that it may be a tad bigger in terms of dimensions and come infused with Triluminos technology. Judging by the manufacturer’s new-found love for crafting sturdy gadgets, it wouldn’t surprise us if the handset were to feature dust- and water-resistance.

Earlier leaks revolving around the Honami smartphone also point in the direction of a 20MP main snapper’s presence on the flip side, under which resides a flash. Other speculations awaiting a confirmation include a quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chipset clocked at 2.2GHz, 16GB inbuilt storage space and a 3,000mAh battery.
