Micromax confirms the Canvas Doodle 2, is it the A240?

Well, it looks like the Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 and the A240 that were leaked about a couple of days ago, are actually two names of a single phone. The successor to the Canvas Doodle has been announced through the company’s official Facebook page, but of course, all of its details are under wraps. And if the speculation concerning the gadget is anything to go by, it is here to compete with one of the latest stars in the Galaxy, Samsung’s Mega 5.8.

Why specifically the 5.8-inch version? Because rumor has it that the upcoming Micromax contender will be dished out with a display measuring 5.7 inches diagonally. Nothing less than the version 4.2 of the Android Jelly Bean is acceptable and an OTA update for the 4.3 edition in the future will be a cherry on top of the cake.

Although the phablet has a larger multi-touch real estate, it may not have been optimized to spurt out full HD 1080p resolution. Potential customers will have to make do with 720p visuals, which is not half bad. Coming to cameras, users will apparently be treated to a 12MP one placed on the rear panel, while a 5MP webcam will be perched on top of the display.

Addition of dual SIM capability is inevitable and a regular expansion slot should grace the device as well. A MediaTek MT6589 processor is likely to hide under the hood, accompanied by 1GB of RAM, 16GB of onboard memory and a power pack of 2,600mAh capacity.

Even though these specifications appear believable, we would still urge you to take this information with a pinch of salt. The Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 phablet’s release date should be out before August comes to an end.
