Sony Ericsson Xperia Active The world had caught a glimpse of the Sony Ericsson Xperia active way back in June this year and now it’s finally set to start shipping from next month through Clove in the UK. This uniquely designed smartphone is said to be apt for those leading busy lifestyles.

The Sony handset features a 5MP camera with 8x zoom, auto focus and dual LED flash with which users can take HD videos. This dust and water proof smartphone possesses a 3-inch TFT 320 x 480p scratch resistant multi-touchscreen with wet finger tracking. It is pre-loaded with sports apps and various features such as integrated GPS for setting training routines, an on-screen heart rate and pulse monitor powered by ANT+ and the iMapMyFitness application for keeping track of daily performance.

Operating on Android 2.3, the Xperia active is equipped with Sony’s Mobile Bravia engine. It is accompanied by a gear kit containing a stereo headset with attachable ear hooks, arm straps and wrist straps which should be beneficial for active exercisers. Measuring 92mm × 55mm × 16.5 mm, this device offers talk time and standby time of up to 5 hours and 351 hours, respectively on a GSM network. Powered by a 1GHz processor, it is integrated with 512MB RAM and 320MB internal storage which can be expanded up to 32GB via a microSD card.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia active should be available from mid-November and carries a price of £240 inclusive of VAT through Clove UK. It will be accompanied by a free Sony Ericsson LiveView.
