Sony Ericsson has several handsets in its Walkman range to satiate most audiophiles’ musical buds. Extending its Walkman line-up of products, the company took the wraps off its new Android-powered W8 Walkman smartphone.

The Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman shows off a 3-inch 320 x 480p TFT capacitive touchscreen display equipped with a Walkman widget on the homescreen for instant playlist accessibility. It is powered by Android 2.1 OS for delivering elevated performance.

The device jackets a 3.2MP camera for photography enthusiasts coupled with geo-tagging and video recording capabilities. The four corners of its homescreen can be customized according to user preferences for instant accessibility to desired functions.

The device comes pre-installed with a 2GB memory card while memory is expandable by up to 32GB via microSD card slot. The phone will be seen adorning the store shelves dipped in metallic red and the iconic Walkman orange hues.

The Sony Ericsson W8 Walkman smartphone is scheduled to be widely released across China, Indonesia, India, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam in second quarter of 2011.
