Ripple Mobile’s PhoneTag app brings location sharing on BlackBerry

PhoneTag for BlacBerry The BlackBerry Messenger has been conveying ideas and thoughts amongst users who flaunt one of the varied RIM smartphones. However, several apps have stepped in the domain to further strengthen communication via these handsets. To offer a seamless location-based interaction, Ripple Mobile has introduced its recently released PhoneTag for BlackBerry devices.

This free GPS app has been developed to enable location sharing in a secure way, connecting users through a simple text message. Its design facilitates them to select friends from their contact list and send them text messages. With the app installed on their handsets, BlackBerry owners can not only inform others about their geographical destination but also engage in text conversations.

“When we launched Ripple PhoneTag on iPhone, Blackberry and Android users could only experience PhoneTag through an invitation from an iPhone user and see how it could change the way they stay connected with friends, family and colleagues,” elucidated Kevin Miller, President and Co-Founder of Dublin, Ohio-based Ripple Mobile. “We’re excited to inform BlackBerry users that a fully compatible version of PhoneTag now exists for BlackBerry.”

“Downloads increased significantly with our OnTime calendar app once it became compatible with BlackBerry,” Miller stated further. “We know the viral potential for PhoneTag is enormous because the application is based on inviting friends to participate in a PhoneTag session. We’re working hard to get all platforms connected.”

While allowing users to establish secure communication on the fly, it is also plugged to offer social and personal value. Further, individuals can also decide a venue for their next meeting with friends. As they set out for this place, the app extends turn-by-turn directions to ensure a safe passage.

The PhoneTag app is now available for BlackBerry devices at no cost. It was unleashed for the iPhone sometime last month and an Android-compatible version is expected to be out soon.
