The next best option for those who depend on mobile connectivity but find laptops or similar devices too bulky could be an internet enabled mobile phone that accommodates multi-tasking. Sony Ericsson has included a new handset in their GreenHeart portfolio called the Aspen. This Windows Phone is claimed to be ideal for business users with a chassis that flaunts a human curvature design, full QWERTY keyboard, one-click internet access and one touch user operation for viewing or editing office files.

The phone shows off a 2.4” color TFT QVGA touchscreen display that offers resolutions of 240 x 320p. It integrates a 3.2MP camera with 4 x digital zoom, smart contrast, multishot, and self timer. It runs the Windows Mobile 6.5.3 OS and provides SanDisk microSD card support for capacities of up to 16GB. Stored content may be secured with Microsoft MyPhone service which remotely erases data if the device is misplaced or stolen. The handset operates within UMTS HSPA 900/2100, GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900, UMTS HSPA 850/900/2100 and GSM GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 networks.

This 117mm x 60mm x 12.45mm gizmo weighs in at 130g and allows for a number of connectivity options. These consist of a 3.5mm audio jack, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, A-GPS, microUSB connector, Google Maps, Synchronization and so on. It extends Media Browser, Sony Ericsson Slide View and customizable panels. The multimedia experience is supplied by the Sony Ericsson media player, embedded stereo speakers, stereo A2DP Bluetooth, Windows Media Player Mobile and PlayNow. The messaging attributes encompass Microsoft Exchange Active Sync, e-mail, SMS, MMS, IM, predictive text input, and handwriting recognition.

The Aspen’s web features accommodate Internet Explorer Mobile, bookmarks, web feeds, Google Search, pan and zoom. The GreenHeart elements include power saving mode, GreenHeart panel, E-manual, Eco mate application and waterborne painting. Its applications and panels comprise of SPB Mobile Shell 3.0 (Professional and Lifestyle), Microsoft Today, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube panel, CNN, Windows Live, Gokivo Weather Panel, Skype, SPB Traveler, Google Mobile Application and Weather combo among others. Additionally, it also proffers Adobe PDF Reader, Microsoft Office Mobile, Outlook Mobile, FM with RDS and 3D games and much more.

Sony Ericsson’s Aspen handset will be launched in shades of iconic black and white silver by the second quarter of 2010 across select nations. It will be packaged with a battery, Green charger, microUSB cable, HPM-60J GreenHeart stereo portable handsfree and E-manual. The Bluetooth noise shield handsfree VH700 and mini-charger EP800 will be offered as optional accessories with the phone.
