Those who’ve been waiting to acquire an unlocked version of the Satio handset will get to do exactly that. Sony Ericsson has released the Satio unlocked handset across North America. The 3G-enabled phone features a number of entertainment options and a 12.1MP camera which allows for high-resolution image as well as video recording.

High-resolution photos can be snapped up with the handset’s integrated camera that features touch focus, Xenon flash, Face Detection, IS, red-eye reduction and BestPic technologies. Additionally, the combination of Google Maps and Geo-Tag applications allows users to view the location from where the pictures were taken.

The phone integrates a 3.5” 16:9 ratio touchscreen whose display orientation may be changed from landscape to portrait mode and vice versa by rotating the device. It comes with Wi-Fi connectivity, stereo FM radio, TrackID technology, an 8GB M2 memory card, stereo Bluetooth headphones and a USB connector cable.

The Satio incorporates Facebook and Picasa applications and its YouTube compatibility permits owners to share captured content on the popular video uploading site. Supplied Media Go software enables drag-and-drop transfers of MP3 songs from a compatible PC to the phone.

Sony Ericsson’s Satio is being sold through Sony Style stores as well as SonyStyle.com for $650 and comes backed by full customer support.
