Sony Ericsson P1i introduced with RIM BlackBerry Connect Software in Asia Pacific

Sony Ericsson P1i Sony Ericsson has announced the availability of BlackBerry Connect software 4.0 on Sony Ericsson P1i handsets in various Asia Pacific regions, including Australia, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

Sony Ericsson P1i will come pre-loaded with the BlackBerry Connect software. As BlackBerry Connect can support push-based wireless email services which includes attachment viewing and wireless email synchronization, in conjunction with both BlackBerry Enterprise Server and BlackBerry Internet Service.

Mr. Lennard Hoornik, Corporate Vice President, Head of Asia Pacific commented, “We have worked closely with RIM to provide one of the finest mobile office solutions available on the Symbian platform.”

He further continued, “The robust functionality of the Sony Ericsson P1i together with out-of-the-box support for the BlackBerry platform will provide customers with a powerful communications tool that’s both secure and speedy to set up”

He also added, “With BlackBerry Connect v4.0 support, P1i customers in Asia Pacific will be able to leverage the power of BlackBerry services and enjoy enhanced communications and productivity benefits”

Some other features supported by BlackBerry Enterprise Server and BlackBerry Connect v4.0 offered are:

  • Enhanced attachment handling capabilities, enabling users to view images, footnotes and tracked changes;
  • Remote look-up of corporate email address directory;
  • Triple DES or AES wireless encryption
  • Internet and corporate intranet access via the BlackBerry Mobile Data System (MDS)
  • Wireless device provisioning to allow devices to be activated wirelessly;
  • Remote control of email settings to allow users to wirelessly configure out-of-office replies, email filters, and auto-signatures directly from their device;
  • Wireless IT policy enforcement and commands
  • Sony Ericsson smartphone P1i is a business oriented phone which also has three-way input interface, as well as manage new business contacts through the 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus that doubles as a business card scanner. The connectivity of Sony Ericsson P1i is on hi-speed UMTS and supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and VoIP.
