Skype Wi-Fi debuts on iPhone

Skype Wi-Fi App

The availability of Skype Wi-Fi for the iPhone through its new app has been declared by the official Skype blog. Previously known as Skype Access, the Skype Wi-Fi app will enable iPhone users to go online through innumerable Wi-Fi hotspots around the world including hotels, airports, train stations, convention centres, bars and restaurants.

This app provides a seemingly cost-effective way to go online with its pay-per-minute Wi-Fi internet access. It claims to be beneficial for frequent travelers as they won’t have to incur data roaming charges on updating their Facebook, Twitter and Skype accounts or uploading pictures.

The blog reveals that with Skype Credit, users don’t need to buy an hour or day Wi-Fi voucher if they wish to only check their email or make a quick Skype call. Wi-Fi access prices through Skype start at $ 0.06 per minute and users will only be charged for the minutes they stay connected. The app allows them to upload and download unlimited amount of data.

The Skype Wi-Fi app for the iPhone can now be downloaded for free from the App Store. Also Skype Wi-Fi will be available for free from August 20 00:00 to August 21 23:59 BST for a maximum of 60 minutes.
