Skype rolls out new application on iPhone

Skype logo Skype has made public to offer its new application for iPhone through the Apple App store. This application will come along with calling and instant messaging service.

The application will offer numerous capabilities and services. Skype customers can call each other worldwide free of charge from any Wi-Fi zone. Reasonably low rates will be charged for calls made to landline or mobile phones from any Wi-Fi zone. If these services are to be used through the iPhone, users need a Wi-Fi connection.

Users can send and receive instant messages using 3G, Wi-Fi, GPRS or EDGE. Additionally, they can also receive calls to a personal online number along with viewing contacts while online or instant messaging. A contact list can be created, maintained and updated along with sending or receiving instant messaging. Moreover, other users can be identified easily as profile picture of others can be seen.

To avoid being charged by a wireless service provider for using mobile data, the company offers an unlimited data usage plan over a mobile data connection. This plan can be used for this service over a mobile data connection for 3G, GPRS and EDGE mobile data usage.

The Skype application will be available at the Apple App Store.
