The freshly updated Skype for iOS application for the iPhone and the iPad drags along a new feature dubbed Photo Sharing. Apart from the inclusion of this attribute, its performance and interface have been fine-tuned.

Talking about the included trait, users can directly send images captured on any of the aforementioned devices to friends and family via Skype. Plus, the developers claim that there are no constraints on the image size which mitigates the need to conform to email size limits or pay MMS charges.

“Millions of people use Skype for iPhone or Skype for iPad each month. Today, with updates to both apps, we are introducing a frequently requested feature: Photo Sharing for iOS. In addition, we’ve made some improvements to the performance of the app, as we know many of you want to keep Skype running on your mobile devices all the time,” states a post on the official Skype blog.

Those wielding the refreshed tool will experience a quicker start-up sequence, while the contact list is also expected to load faster than the earlier versions. It can conveniently run in the background all day long, and calls as well as IMs can be responded to throughout.

Skype for iOS v4.1 can be downloaded via iTunes for free. It is compatible with the iPhone 3GS, 4 and 4S. The utility also rubs along nicely with any version of the iPad and the third generation iPod touch.
