Sky Go for Android beams on-demand content to phones

At present, there may be only 7 phones that are compatible with the newly announced Sky Go for Android on-demand content service for the UK. But the company has an update in mind that will take the Sky Movies and Sky Entertainment buffet to more devices such as the Galaxy Note and Galaxy Nexus.

By mid-July, fans will be able to access content on Ice Cream Sandwich phones supported by the application which was released back in February. It delivers 8 sports channels and Sky Movies subscribers can access 11 movie channels. This is the first time that movie content from the service provider is available on-demand for Android.

“With the huge and ever-growing popularity of Android devices in the UK it’s fantastic to make on-demand content from Sky Movies and Sky Entertainment available to Sky customers for the first time,” remarked Holly Knill, Product Director of Sky Go.

“This update means customers can enjoy some of the most popular shows such as Sky Atlantic’s Mad Men, Veep and hundreds of the latest Hollywood blockbusters, whenever suits them. We hope this update to the service offers extra flexibility to Android users and the new option of on-demand viewing makes a richer experience for all Sky customers across all platforms,” added Knill.

Also, entertainment from Sky 1, Sky Movies, Sky Living, Sky Arts 1 and Sky Atlantic is zooming its way onto Android with the latest development. What’s more, the app offers more control over user accounts with the ability to check out the related Sky bundle and bill from right within the interface.

The Sky Go for Android on-demand content service is currently available for the HTC Desire, Desire HD, Desire S, Incredible S, Sensation and Sensation XE phones. Additionally, it is compatible with Samsung Galaxy S and Galaxy S2 handsets too.
