SingTel extends mio TV to Nokia Siemens subscribers

SingTel and Nokia Siemens Logo Customers of Nokia Siemens subscribers can now enjoy SingTel’s (Singapore Telecommunication Limited) mio TV on their network. SingTel launched this service on Nokia Siemens Networks’ Mobile TV streaming solution which facilitates accessibility to the service ‘anytime, anywhere’.

The Nokia Siemens Network’s has launched a pay TV content service for the first time through its mobile TV streaming solution, joining hands with SingTel. Singapore became the first country to receive the service.

The phone application works on Adobe’s Flash Lite technology. Nokia Siemens will be using its Media Delivery Solution (MDS) 3.5 as platform for the Mobile TV. This technology also supports various standards like video streaming (unicast) and is also capable of supporting future technologies. The collaboration will bring a ‘stable and quality’ service to consumers.

“With SingTel’s mio TV on Mobile service, users now have the option to extend their viewing pleasure anytime, anywhere. With Nokia Siemens Networks’ Mobile TV solution, users will enjoy the same familiarity they are used to at home and not miss their favourite shows when they are on the move,” said Wong Soon Nam, Vice President, Consumer Marketing, SingTel.

“We’re honoured to play a major role in SingTel’s Mobile TV plans in Singapore,” added Thomas Yeo, Head of SingTel Singapore Customer Team, Nokia Siemens Networks. “This deal demonstrates our ability to partner with forward thinking operators like SingTel to make the most of industry-leading solutions such as Nokia Siemens Networks’ MDS.”

For the time being, the companies have come together in Singapore and are trying to ‘push the Mobile TV envelope’ in the country. The alliance is described as being a ‘milestone’ for both the companies.
