The latest entrant into the tech terrain is the newly launched Sharp ultra thin 12.1MP CMOS camera module for smartphones. This trim camera module with optical image stabilization is called the RJ63YC100 and possesses a slim profile measuring 1/3.2-inch.

This camera tool from Sharp is said to sport the thinnest body in the industry and boasts of statistics that read 11mm x 11mm x 5.4mm. It will enable users to capture videos in 1080p full HD and come with features like autofocus as well as optical image stabilization.

The survival of the fittest theory seems to not only be restricted to the ecology but also extends to the tech world as shown by this newly launched tool. The company states that it developed this trim back-illuminated CMOS image sensor owing to the growing competition among mobile phones and smartphones wherein telecommunication brands focus on outdoing each other in the thinness of their devices.

Equipped with a F 2.5 lens, it apparently lets users take cutting edge quality shots even in situations which may cause blurring of images such as shooting in dim environs or capturing moving objects.

The 1080p videos taken from this CMOS sensor can easily be transferred to an LCD TV for a large screen viewing experience. A lens-shift system is employed by the incorporated optical image stabilizer in this Sharp camera accessory which controls the lens inside the module.

The sample shipments of the Sharp ultra thin 12.1MP CMOS for smartphones are scheduled to begin today while the volume shipments will start from January 10 next year. Its sample price is tagged at 12,000 yen.
