Samsung SPH-M4800 and Samsung M8800 smartphones unveiled

Samsung logoWe guess its raining smartphone these days! Hardly had the Omnia made its debut in the global smartphone market, Samsung is at it again. The world market leader in electronic products apparently has plans to launch two new feature rich phones- SPH M4800 aka Samsung Ultra Messaging II and M8800 also dubbed as the Samsung Pixon.

Lets start with the very fresh SPH M4800. A unique smartphone that provides three types of input methods namely the text-friendly QWERTY keypad, the finger mouse offering PC-like web experience and the touch screen display, the device comes with a 2.55” LCD screen and a 624MHz high-speed processor. The Samsung SPH M4800 boast of a Microsoft Windows Mobile 6.1 OS and additionally supports Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, GSM global roaming, 2MP shooter and an external memory slot.

Next in line is an Omnia sibling and supposedly the Samsung i8510 INNOV8’s successor, the super cool Samsung Pixon also codenamed as the Brenson. Making its entry in the league of touch screen phones, we are actually wondering if this one’s a phone with a camera or a camera with a phone. You heard it right; this smart device apparently comes with an 8 megapixel camera that should be attributed by some fun elements like auto-focus, face-recognition, Wide Dynamic Range, Advance Shake Reduction, GPS geo-tagging support, and WSVGA and VGA video recording at 30fps.

A large 3.2” touch screen, the device will support for HSDPA high-speed data but there’s no Wi-Fi. It should also come packed with a microSD expandable memory, Bluetooth 2.0, USB 2.0, FM radio and a battery that provides up to 7 hours of talktime and 16 days standby time.

There’s no word on the exact launch date and price of the two phones, though we should be expecting an official announcement by Samsung in the next couple of weeks.
