Series 5 Slate

The company has spelled out the Samsung Series 5 and Series 7 Slate PCs price and release date at the IFA 2012. And what’s interesting here is that the global versions of the two tablets have been dubbed as Ativ Smart PC and Smart PC Pro.

Both slates tag along the S Pen which offers 1,024 levels of sensitivity for an enhanced touch experience. Other than that, they share features like the Windows 8 OS, Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802 a/b/g/n. The former weighs 1.65 pounds with a thickness of 0.38 inches, while the latter tips the scales at 1.89 pounds and measures 0.5 inches in thickness. The company is also providing an optional keyboard dock for easy input.

“With the introduction of our new Slate PCs, we are providing customers with greater choice while maintaining the power of a traditional PC,” remarked Todd Bouman, vice president of marketing at Samsung’s Enterprise Business Division. “We created our Slate PCs with a focus on beautiful design, powerful performance and ease of use, attributes that our customers have come to expect in their Samsung computing experience.”

The Series 5 slab packs in an 11.6-inch 10-point multi-touch full HD capacitive display, an Atom processor, 2GB of system memory and a 64GB SSD. The Series 7 tablet, on the other hand, draws power from an Intel Core i5-3317U processor that teams up with 4GB of RAM for smooth operations. It wears the same-sized touch panel, but with an HD resolution. Users will be able to configure this device with a 128GB SSD for hoarding purposes.

As stated earlier, the Samsung Series 5 and Series 7 Slate price and release date details are out. The former’s cost is marked at $749 with the keyboard dock and $649 without the peripheral, while the latter is priced at $1,199. Both tablets will hit stores starting October 26.
