The Samsung S Band fitness tracker that was supposed to be announced with the Galaxy S4, will now be arriving in India as a companion to the latest flagship, the Galaxy S5. Nothing has been revealed officially about it, but all of its details have surfaced on the internet, rather pre-maturely.
On closely viewing the promotion slides that have leaked via SamMobile, we can say that the upcoming device looks a lot like the Gear Fit, the South Korean company’s fitness band that was unveiled at the MWC along with the new smartphone in February. This upcoming Band does not have a display, but is deployed with sensors which are capable of tracking a user’s activities. It works with the Activity Tracker and S Health apps and can even keep tabs on your sleep.
And apart from keeping you fit, the S Band is also capable of notifying you about your calls and messages. It will let you know in case the Bluetooth connection between the band and the smartphone is lost. And SamMobile says that the accessory will have changeable straps too in shades like yellow, grey, white and orange.
Additionally, the Samsung S Band is said to be compatible with all Samsung smartphones, provided they are loaded with the 3.0 version of the S Health application. An update should be released for the existing gadgets, while all the upcoming phones will be pre-installed with it. There’s no word yet on the price or the availability details of the fitness tracker.
