An announcement today by AT&T and Samsung Telecommunications America revealed the availability of this first military grade certified handset that can withstand the elements and also keep you in touch.

A fast and powerful fellow that can take just about anything you throw at it, the Samsung Rugby is sure to appease small businessmen. It is the first handset to have complied with the military standard or the MI-SID-810F passing the test for its resistance to different extreme conditions such as high temperature, humidity, water exposure, solar radiation, shock and dust exposures.

A 3G enabled phone, the handset is the premier one to comprehend AT&T’s breakthrough Video Share calling and the largest Push to Talk network. The Video Share feature should allow mobile workforces to transfer live streaming videos to a colleague, supervisor or back to the home or office. Aiding in diagnosing and repairing a problem one can also show progress of a job and conduct a phone conversation with them simultaneously. The other highlight of the Samsung Rugby is the Push To talk feature that will ensure costly downtime is reduced with a speedy decision making capability within work groups.

The tough phone sports a 2” display with a 128×160 resolution, a 1.3 megapixel camera, 128MB internal memory and a Bluetooth. It is powered by a battery that gives 5 hours of talk time and 240 hours on standby. Other features of the Samsung Rugby include a built-in GPS to support such LBS apps as AT&T Navigator (domestic and global), TeleNav Track, Xora GPS TimeTrack, etc., international capabilities, and support for AT&T’s unique BusinessTalk plans for small businesses.
