Samsung Knack, a mobile phone with the knack of simplicity

Samsung KnackWith all the gung-ho surrounding high end phones and even dizzying features, there are still a handful that follow the simpler way of staying connected. Keeping this in mind, Verizon Wireless in collaboration with Samsung has released a simple flip-phone, the Samsung Knack aka SCH-U310.

Extending its basic handset love to Verizon, Samsung Knack is a slim and naïve device with an ergonomic design in silver and grey. Sporting a simplified user interface, it comes with a low resolution 2.2” internal screen, large text, number fonts and messaging communication. Users can effortlessly find correct numbers on the larger-than average and tactile keypad. A dedicated ICE (In Case of Emergency) key gives quick access to a trio of essential contacts exclusively for the user.

Samsung Knack also list some other dedicated hot keys which should be the selling point of the device according to Verizon. Other features include messaging, voice commands, personal organizer options, a 2.5mm headset jack, advanced speech recognition and up to 270 minutes talk time. We are assuming the phone is targeted at inexperienced or elderly users. Nevertheless it does fit the bill as far as basic functionalities are concerned

The bare bones simple clamshell should be up for keeps in mid October 2008 for a price of approximately $40 with a new two-year customer agreement via Verizon.
