Samsung Unpacked Event Postponed

Samsung and Google have decided to pay homage to Steve Jobs by indefinitely postponing the Unpacked event, says CNET. Moving beyond legal and market wars, the rivals have confirmed that the demise of the Apple co-creator is the reason behind this major step.

The Samsung Google Unpacked event was originally scheduled to take place at San Diego on October 11, as confirmed by the invites sent out by the mobile manufacturer previously. The event was strategically scheduled to fit the time frame of the CTIA Fall event happening in the same city.

“Under the current circumstances, both parties have agreed that this is not the appropriate time for the announcement of a new product. We ask for your understanding regarding any inconvenience caused. We will announce a new date and venue in due course,” Samsung conveyed through its official global blog.

With the delay of this affair, Android fans eagerly waiting for the next version of the smartphone operating system have been slightly disappointed. The event was supposed to see the unveiling of the next Samsung Nexus handset loaded with the Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

The joint decision by both companies is gathering mixed reviews since Apple is continuing with the launch, pre-orders and sales of the iPhone 4S as announced a day prior to the demise of its ex-CEO and co-founder.

Considering the announcement earlier this year by Eric Schmidt about the Ice Cream Sandwich release taking place latest by November this year, there still seems some time before Samsung and Google zero in on an appropriate date.
