Verizon was just recently in the news as its logo was seen slapped onto the HTC 7 Trophy which in turn made fans of the carrier wait in high anticipation for its first Windows Phone 7. While handset enthusiasts recover from this piece of rumor, we see another one of sorts emerging from the fog of bewilderment. Now, Samsung Gem is seen staring at us through the official Samsung product page, complete with the Verizon logo situated atop the device.

Mobile users who wanted to get their hands on this particular device were earlier informed that Alltel Wireless added the device to its extended portfolio. Touted to now unveil soon through Verizon, the handset is claimed to be powered by Android 2.1 Éclair OS and host a number of useful features. Offering an 800MHz processor, the phone sports a 3.2″ WQVGA touchscreen display and 3.2 Megapixel Camera complete with digital zoom and auto focus.

Measuring just 4.48 x 2.18 x 0.48 inches, the mobile tips the scale at only 3.85 ounces. The Gem includes one-touch messaging access which enables owners to easily share e-mails and messages or instantly updates their Facebook or Twitter posts. A plethora of Android apps are at the users’ fingertips as well as various connectivity options such as Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi and USB 2.0. The company provides 124MB on-board memory as well as up to 16GB microSD card external memory.

The exact pricing details have not been divulged by the company just yet but it however mentioned that the device will bear a ‘competitive pricing’.
