We’re hardly a away from seeing the Samsung Galaxy S6 getting officially launched by the South Korean company. And while it’s obvious that the US, Europe and Korea among other places will be getting the new flagship soon, India could also be amongst the first wave of countries considering that it’s an important market for the giant.
According to claims made by IBN Live based on information obtained via a source, the Samsung Galaxy S6 will be released in India sometime during the second week of April. The report goes on to say that Galaxy S6 pre-bookings will commence in March itself and that could happen sometime during the mid of the month.
There’s no word as yet on pricing, but we don’t expect to see the phone retail anywhere below Rs 50000, considering that it’s said to come with a curved display, a next generation processor and various other new innovations. The upcoming Samsung handset has been leaked several times already and along with full renders of the device, we’ve also seen the company tease bits and pieces of it through social media.
The Galaxy S6 is expected to come with a 5.1-inch 2K AMOLED display and be powered by the latest 14nm Exynos 7420 processor. On the software front, Android Lollipop is obvious and so is the company’s TouchWiz UI. However, the latest release will have much lesser bloatware which will result in better performance and minimum battery drain.
Here’s a roundup of the known Samsung Galaxy S6 specs:
– 5.1-inch Super AMOLED 2K display (2560 x 1440 pixels)
– Octa core Exynos 7420 chipset
– Android 5.0 Lollipop
– 4GB RAM
– 20MP rear camera, 5MP front shooter
Along with the Samsung Galaxy S6, we might also see an Edge version go official which will sport a curved display on two sides. The launch is scheduled for March 1 at the MWC 2015 expo in Spain.
