Samsung Galaxy S5 hits pre-order availability in India for Rs 1500

The less-than-impressive and much over-hyped Samsung Galaxy S5 is now available for pre-order in India through the company’s eStore for Rs 1500. The phone is set to be launched into the market starting from April 11 and it will be priced between Rs 51000 to Rs 53000.

But you can get the Galaxy S5 for less than that thanks to a neat little deal Samsung is offering. The eStore is baiting customers with a Rs 7650 to Rs 7950 cash back scheme, pulling the cost of the handset down to the Rs 43350 to Rs 45050 price range. There’s just one catch – you have to be a Citibank credit card holder.

Online seller, Infibeam, also happens to have put the smartphone up for pre-booking at Rs 1500. But it will only start shipping it out on April 13. The retailer will give customers a Rs 1500 coupon that can be redeemed on the launch price. No other major reseller in India is currently hosting a pre-order page for Samsung’s latest device.

Although the specifications at the time of release indicated that the phone would arrive with microSD support of up to 128GB, Samsung’s eStore listing only shows it to have 64GB of expandable memory. Maybe an error that will be rectified soon? As for the smartphone itself, we’re not very impressed.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 feels like an incremental update to its predecessor. It’s still covered in a drab plastic casing, doesn’t even have a 2K display and doesn’t have that one oomph factor which can make it stand apart from competitors.
