Samsung Galaxy S24 Series Arrives With Top-End Specs And Galaxy AI Quirks

Samsung Galaxy S24 Series

Samsung’s next-gen flagship smartphone range has been unveiled to the world, with pre-orders for the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra having commenced already. Equipped with leading-edge specs and exciting Galaxy AI features, these phones will be made available for purchase from January 31 onwards.

Samsung Galaxy S24 series

The pick of the lot is the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, which ships with a 6.8-inch Edge QHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X display bearing a 1Hz – 120Hz adaptive refresh rate and 2600 nits of peak brightness. It comes with a Titanium chassis and a 5000mAh battery supported by 45W fast charging.

The cameras onboard are headlined by a 200MP main unit that offers OIS. A 50MP telephoto camera complements it, offering 5x optical zoom, while there’s even a 10MP telephoto shooter offering 3x optical zoom and OIS. As for ultra-wide shots, they will be taken care of by a 12MP shooter.

The Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ sport 6.2-inch and 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X displays, with the former gaining an FHD+ screen and the latter a QHD+ one. The phones carry 4000mAh and 4900mAh batteries, respectively.

They come with identical camera setups, with a 50MP wide camera being the highlight. While a 12MP shooter offers access to ultra-wide shots, a 10MP telephoto camera enables 3x optical zoom.

What’s common for all three of these smartphones is their adoption of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, which delivers a clock speed of 3.3 GHz. But a bigger highlight is its Hexagon NPU, which brings a 98 percent improvement to the AI performance.

Galaxy AI

And this boost in AI performance is utilized by the Galaxy AI features that form the backbone of the Galaxy S24 user experience.

Samsung Circle To Search

Among them is Circle to Search that’s powered by Google and allows you to get crucial information about anything on the screen by just circling it, highlighting it or scribbling over it.

There’s the incredible Live Translate feature that offers two-way, real-time voice and text translations of phone calls, while there’s even Chat Assist that can help you change the tones of your messages to reflect your intended mood.

Thanks to Galaxy AI, Android Auto will be able to summarize multiple messages from a group chat, while a new feature called Note Assist will give you streamlined summaries, template creation abilities, and quick formatting options in the Samsung Notes app.

Also part of this experience is the Transcript Assist feature that uses AI and Speech-to-Text technology to transcribe, summarize and even translate recordings.

Price and availability

As we said, the Samsung Galaxy S24 smartphones are available for pre-order right now, with their release date set for January 31. The base Galaxy S24 will start at $799.99, while the Galaxy S24+ will go for $999.99. The Galaxy S24 Ultra will be more expensive than its predecessor, at $1,299.99.
