Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone attains 5 million global sales

Samsung Galaxy S II Smartphone Samsung has declared that the Galaxy S II GT-I9100, its flagship smartphone has marked a milestone 5 million global sales. The company said that their widespread operator and distributor support has helped in making this happen.

The 8.49mm thin Galaxy S II is a lightweight Dual-Core smartphone featuring 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display. Functioning on Android operating system, the Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone also gives gateway to company’s exclusive entertainment and content hub providing access to music, social networking sites, games, and e-reading.

“In just a few months the Galaxy S II has led the way in driving Samsung’s unmatched performance in the smartphone industry. Since being launched into the retail market in late April, the Galaxy S II has seen tremendous growth. This reflects the strong support from carrier partners globally, who in choosing the Galaxy S II as their flagship device have reaffirmed the device’s status as a premium, market-defining smartphone,” said JK Shin, President and Head of Samsung’s Mobile Communications Business.

The Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone achieved the 5 million mark within 85 days whereas the original version of this smartphone, the Galaxy S, had taken 40 days more to achieve the same. Galaxy S II has been launched recently in China and consequently the company expects the sales to step up further as China is considered to be the largest market.
