Karbonn Mobiles has announced the launch of the Karbonn A1, claimed to be the most affordable 3G enabled Android 2.2 smartphone in India. With the arrival of the Karbonn A1 smartphone, the company plans to achieve 5 percent market share.
The phone is braced with a 600 Megahertz processor and downloading speed of 7.2 mbps. Apart from this, it is also said to have a convenient and quicker user interface, faster application operation and web browsing, which the company credits to its specially designed performance enhancing software. The phone also boasts of a 3.2MP camera and a 7.1 cm touchscreen.
The A1 provides various applications and activities like USB tethering, use of handset as a Wi-Fi hotspot, storing applications in external memory, 4.5 times faster browsing on heavy Java apps, use of Adobe flash 10.1, etc. With Android 2.2 OS, the phone is also said to give 20 times enhanced memory performance, better graphics and user interface, and 2 to 5 times faster processing.
Speaking on the launch of the this smartphone, Shashin Devsare, Executive Director, Karbonn Mobiles said, “With the launch of Karbonn A1, Karbonn Mobiles is all set to revolutionize the highly popular Android market in India. At sub-10000 rupees price, the Karbonn A1 is a thrilling phone. The phone is pre-loaded with popular Google apps like Google Map, Gmail, GTalk. Also, it supports Android Market, one of the biggest app stores in the world.”
Key characteristics of the Karbonn A1 smartphone include customizable homescreen, new task manager app, external memory expandable up to 32GB, video recorder and player, GPS, etc. The phone also possesses features like handwriting recognition, Swype feature which allows users to enter words by sliding a finger from letter to letter, lifting only between words, and widgets. Also, it is powered with an 1100mAh battery. The phone allows access to several Android market apps like Bollywoodji, YouTube, G-Sensor based games like Raging Thunder, and more.
The Karbonn A1 smartphone comes with a price tag of Rs. 6,999. Karbonn Mobiles has also expressed plans for launching three more smartphone models soon.
