A recent video leak shows an already launched Samsung Galaxy S II smartphone running on the yet to be released Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich ROM. This news comes just a few days before Google officially put forth the news about its latest treat for Android fans, almost certainly through a Samsung Nexus handset.

Reported by GSMArena, the video apparently shows a white hued Samsung Galaxy S II operating on the new Ice Cream Sandwich mobile platform by Google. The clip displays the new music player, applications in the Android Market, and some other features of the operating system too.

The Ice Cream Sandwich event is scheduled to take place in Hong Kong on October 19. It had previously been planned to coincide with the CTIA in San Diego on October 11 and was then known as the ‘Samsung Mobile Unpacked 2011: Google Episode’. It was later rescheduled as a tribute to Apple co-founder Steve Jobs.

For consumers, the video might as well be pointing towards an early ICS update on their existing devices, especially the Galaxy S II. But for now, all we can hope for is a Nexus device from Samsung, probably known as Nexus Prime or Galaxy Nexus, with the official version of the Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS.

Update: It looks like we’ve all been taken for a fancy ride. The Samsung Galaxy S II running Ice Cream Sandwich is now said to have been working with third party add-ons to make it look like it was on Android 4.0.
