The Samsung Galaxy Pocket is all set to expand the Korea based manufacturer’s mobile phone range in the UK. Destined to roll out sometime later this year, the device is being put forth as a compact, mini Android handset option for users who prefer a simple yet smart phone.

Operating on the Gingerbread OS, the Pocket also features a 2.8-inch touchscreen. The Android platform has been blended with the upgraded TouchWiz UI from Samsung, which should deliver a smooth user experience.

“With the Samsung Galaxy Pocket, we are building on the features we know our customers enjoy and get the most out of. This new device adds further breadth to the choice of smartphones we currently offer and provides a smartphone experience for even more customers at an affordable price,” said Simon Stanford, Vice President, UK & Ireland Telecommunications and Networks Division at Samsung.

Although the device offers 3GB of internal storage capacity, it can be expanded up to 32GB by means of a microSD card. It also offers entertainment while on the go with the FM radio, music player and more staying right in place. Wireless connectivity options such as Wi-Fi and HSDPA 3.6 have also been provided. The integration of the Social Hub service allows users to view all text messages and emails as well as SNS communications within a single inbox.

The Samsung Galaxy Pocket release date and price are not known yet. However, it can be expected to make a commercial debut later this year in the UK.
