The Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 may not be hiding in the shadows after all. The purported tablet is yet to see an official unveil from the South Korean brand, but an accidental gaffe might just have splashed water on its plans for a grand reveal. At an event held in its home nation for the announcement of a new color option of the 10.1 LTE iteration of the series, a placard showing off a mystery device has been photographed by certain scribes.
As the name suggests, Galaxy Note 8.0 is being touted to be an eight inched device that’s ready to make its debut at the Mobile World Congress show in Barcelona, Spain, later this month. A few points have come to the fore, that have led many to believe that the photographed slate is indeed the device in question.
The S Pen stylus is characteristic only of this range of the tablets, and is not found on the Tab family. Hence, as the image is boldly flaunting the accessory, this device has to be from the series which has till now, granted us two phablets and the 10.1 slab.
Moreover, it has on-screen back and home buttons which can be spotted on 10.1 tablet but not on the newest phablet. This somewhat corroborates that it is indeed a device from the same series. Besides, Sammy Hub has pointed out that the image of the mystery device matches with that of a leaked photo of the slate which had surfaced recently.
For curious souls, here’s a lowdown on all the specifications that it is rumored to have been infused with. Firstly, its 8-inch display is said to possess a resolution of 1,280 x 800 pixels. Apart from a 1.6GHz quad core processor, it is also expected to feature a 5MP main camera, a 1.3MP front snapper, a 4,600mAh battery and of course, the Android Jelly Bean platform.
A recent report had even suggested that the slab could ship in the form of three different variants. These include a Wi-Fi-only model, a Wi-Fi + 3G variant and a Wi-Fi + 3G + LTE version.
