Samsung Galaxy J2 4G phone unveiled in India for Rs 8490

The Samsung Galaxy J2 has been launched in India and is set to be available from September 21 priced at Rs 8490. The handset will be sold via offline and online retail outlets across the country.

The brand is touting the Samsung Galaxy J2 as an affordable 4G-ready smartphone. It’s been equipped with an Ultra Data Saving Mode that apparently reduces internet consumption by up to 50% and doubles the standby time of the device. PTI reports the feature is part of the brand’s contribution towards the Make In India initiative, as it was developed at a local R&D lab.

Diving into its specs, the Galaxy J2 has a 4.7-inch AMOLED qHD (960 x 540p) screen. It runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop with a layer of TouchWiz UI. The phone is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core Exynos 3475 processor combined with a Mali T720 GPU. It houses a 2000mAh battery that is supposed to last for an entire day of mixed usage.

The dual-SIM smartphone contains 8GB of internal space and 1GB of RAM. Samsung has provided it with a microSD slot in order to further add to its memory capacity. It sports a 2MP front-facing lens and a 5MP rear camera accompanied by LED flash. Connectivity options consist of Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, microUSB 2.0 and A-GPS.
