Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch confirmed, is indeed arriving on September 4

Putting an end to all speculations regarding the launch details of the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch, the Vice President of the company’s mobile business has revealed that the wearable device will indeed be unveiled on September 4. Samsung has scheduled an Unpacked event for next Wednesday and the showstopper here will be the next iteration from the OEM’s phablet series, the Galaxy Note 3, disclosed the Executive.

Lee Young-hee, the Vice President divulged the all important details during an interview with The Korea Times. This device is not likely to be standalone smart product, but will act more as an accessory for your smartphone, meant to enhance and enrich the mobile experience. The smartwatch featuring a non-flexible display is slated to bring some advanced communication features to the table. It is aimed at the young trendsetters across the globe.

Very soon, some new wearable gadgets featuring flexible displays will be introduced by Samsung. However, Young-Hee hasn’t elaborated on the type of devices that come under this category. And as far as the Galaxy Note 3 is concerned, potential customers can look forward to some advanced key features in this phablet.

We are yet to get a detailed report about the various functions that the Galaxy Gear can carry out, but considering that it is being touted as an accessory for smartphones, it should allow users to make and answer calls without pulling the handset out. Earlier rumors have suggested that it has a microphone and a speaker on its compact chassis. Owners should also be able to control media playback on their Samsung phones right from the watch.

What remains to be seen is whether the Galaxy Gear is exclusively designed for Samsung Android phones or will work with other handsets as well. We’ll figure out everything about it after exactly a week.
