Samsung attains new milestone, sells over 10 million Galaxy S devices

Samsung Galaxy S The Galaxy S was like the shining star that showed the light to several of the younger entrants of the universe. This device followed up with an entire suite of Galaxy phones. A few facets that became synonymous with this series were AMOLED screens and the Hummingbird processors. Together all of these Samsung devices have spread out to far corners of the world almost dominating each and every continent.

Asserting from what OLED-Display.net has to say, the company has managed to sell over 10 million units of the Galaxy S smartphone alone, leaving aside the rest of the series. Launched back in the month of March last year, it has not even celebrated its first anniversary before the news of over 10 million being sold hits the world.

“The Galaxy S is the result of our 22 year heritage in the mobile industry. It is the realization of our concept of ‘the Smart Life’ – we wanted to makes users’ lives more convenient, more exciting, and more integrated. Today’s milestone shows that we have succeeded: 10 million Galaxy S users around the world are living the Smart Life,” asserted JK Shin, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung.

The statistics almost come as glistening silver lining covering up the cloud of the still to come Android 2.2 update for U.S denizens. Samsung has tweeted clarifying their current status on the update. The tweet read, ‘We are working to make the Android 2.2/Froyo upgrade available to all U.S. Galaxy S owners as soon as possible.’

Well, who knows how soon ‘ASAP’ means but all the same here’s hoping that the Froyo upgrade releases quickly since Gingerbread is already out of the oven.
