Samsung and deCarta collaborate to offer location-enabled apps on bada platform

Samsung And deCarta Logo A few days back the Samsung bada platform was officially unveiled. Now users are all set to have new apps for their devices. Samsung and deCarta join hands to provide location-enabled applications on the new bada smartphone platform.

Owing to the collaboration with deCarta, developers can now include maps, location-based search and routing instructions to any application planned for bada-enabled mobile phones.

“deCarta is excited to be providing the location component of Samsung’s bada eco-system. Because deCarta’s technology simplifies the task of integrating maps and location-based search into applications, developers can build even more compelling applications, and Samsung customers will benefit from a new class of location-enabled applications,” commented, J. Kim Fennell, President and CEO of deCarta.

“We are proud to partner with deCarta – the premier independent LBS platform – to enable developers to create world class location-enabled applications. LBS is now one of the fastest growing sectors in mobile applications and we believe it is a vital component for bada,” stated, Dr Ho Soo Lee, Executive Vice President and Head of Medial Solution Center at Samsung Electronics.

Due to the partnership, deCarta’s easy Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) can be accessed by application developers on the Samsung bada platform. APIs can appeal to an inclusive group of geospatial services like mobile local search, maps, vehicle and pedestrian routing, geocoding and reverse geocoding with minimum development duration.

These services were developed on deCarta’s high-volume Hosted Web Services (HWS) geospatial platform. Developers can get the benefit of a carrier-grade hosting setting to offer exceptional dependability and uptime. The developers can receive these services for no charge.

The bada platform is already accessible for developers from December 2009. Also the developers can check out developer.bada.com to receive access to all the development tools and support.

Consumers can gain from the collection of location-powered applications from the first half of 2010 in the Samsung Application Store. This contract between Samsung and deCarta was declared by both companies at the Samsung bada launch ceremony in London.
