RIM to release multi-platform BlackBerry enterprise solution for smartphones

BlackBerry Logo The existing enterprise markets are trying to come up with a wide range of security and manageability solutions for devices based on different platforms. Lending a heedful ear, RIM revealed its plans to shortly launch a multi-platform BlackBerry enterprise solution to securely manage mobile devices for government and enterprise organizations. This solution is touted to proffer efficient device management for BlackBerry, Android and iOS based devices.

BlackBerry enterprise solution will provide consumers with security, management and controls of BlackBerry Enterprise Server and BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express for handsets via a single web-based console. This console has been crafted to enable IT administrators securely manage mobile phones over-the air, including activities such as software and app distribution, wiping or locking devices, resetting or enforcing passwords, setting IT policies and more.

“The multi-platform BlackBerry Enterprise Solution is designed to address a growing market and respond to requests from enterprise customers who want a secure multi-platform device management solution from a company that already delivers the gold standard for enterprise mobility,” shared Peter Devenyi, Vice President, Communications Platform Group at Research In Motion. “We recognize the opportunity to continue leading in the enterprise market by providing customers with a common platform to help simplify the management of a variety of mobile devices.”

Not surprisingly enough, few attributes of this solution are anticipated to remain limited to BlackBerry handsets citing the reason that such capabilities are integrated deep into the design of a device’s OS. For instance, the recently-released BlackBerry Balance or the push technology will be exclusive only to BlackBerry devices. This new solution is expected to include optional architectural components solely based on the configuration of an organization’s operational requirements and mobile deployment.

The multi-platform BlackBerry Enterprise Solution is scheduled to be released officially later this year.
