Revamped Skype for Android repairs vulnerability and adds 3G calling

Skype Logo Just a few days ago, we reported about Skype publicly revealing certain security loopholes encountered in its Skype for Android application. According to Android Police, Skype has recently released an updated version 1.0.0.983 of Skype app which addresses the security issues and adds 3G calling for Android handset users.

The recently discovered vulnerability exposed Android users’ personal information including instant messages and cached profile information to few third party malicious apps. Skype has now altered the permissions of databases to effectively fix this menacing problem.

However this update does not repair the leaked version of Skype app which features video calling. In addition to this, the new version of the app will also supports 3G calling using Android powered phones across the U.S. The previous version of this app allowed calls to be made only over Wi-Fi network.

The latest 1.0.0.983 version of Skype app is currently available for download through the Android Market for free.
