Elite to launch Barbarian ZX Spectrum for iPhone

ZX Spectrum These days a good number of retro games seem to be making a comeback to entice nostalgic gamers. Elite Systems has officially announced the forthcoming release of the ‘Barbarian’, a Palace Software’s signature ZX Spectrum title from 1987 as a standalone app for the iPhone.

A particular feature of this app which is scheduled for April 22 release will later be offered as an in-app purchased as part of the ‘ZX Spectrum: Elite Collection’. It includes an iDaptive feature which enables users to seamlessly employ user-definable and game-specific joysticks, keypads and controls.

The title offers an auto save option that automatically saves the player’s game progress on exiting. The game features a separate infinite lives version. Barbarian entails players to don the roles of sword-wielding fighters, who battle it out in locales such as a forests or a fighting pit. The game packs in support for TV-out on iPhone 4 and requires an Apple TV-Out component cable which is sold separately.

The Barbarian title is scheduled to be shortly released on the iTunes App Store for £1.19.
