Red Bend to fuel Intel’s next-generation smartphones

Red Bend Logo The latest news from Red Bend reveals its support for Intel’s next-generation smartphone platform also known as Moorestown. Red Bend’s vDirect Mobile device management software had earlier been used by Intel for laptops based on Intel Centrino 2 Processor Technology.

The vDirect Mobile software is claimed to be the industry’s leading independent device management (DM) server. This server can be swapped with any DM server that is in accordance with the standards set by Open Mobile Alliance (OMA).

CEO of Red Bend Software, Yoram Salinger said that,” Expanding our relationship with Intel from WiMAX to handhelds demonstrates the value that Red Bend’s expertise in software updating and device management brings to our customers and their product offerings. Our ability to work on any type of mobile device and with any mobile platform gives us the flexibility to create a standards-based OMA-DM solution to meet our customers’ specific requirements.”

Director of global ecosystem programs in Intel Corporation’s Ultra Mobility Group, Pankaj Kedia says that the Intel Atom processor is an innovation in terms of devices getting faster and smarter in the mobile space. He also says that with Red Bend’s DM solution, it will be easier and more cost effective to manage Intel Atom-based handhelds and smartphones.

Red Bend’s DM software helps in quick marketing for devices that need to obey the standards-based device management. This builds on the successful achievement of vDirect Mobile with Intel rooted WiMAX chipsets. vDirect Mobile is being used as a provision for new subscribers to configure applications and network settings, handle software and position firmware-over-the-air (FOTA) updates. It is stated to be the first DM system to support WiMAX Management Object deployed by the WiMAX forum.
