Sprint to offer Google Nexus One soon

Nexus One Google’s Nexus One will soon be made available on Sprint’s 3G Mobile Broadband Network. However, Sprint is yet to confirm the date of availability. Sprint claims to have the largest voice calling area in the US, Puerto Rico and Virgin islands.

Nexus One which runs on Android 2.1, includes an array of features such as Google Maps Navigation, Email, Phonebook that can link contacts from several sources including Facebook, the ability to swap communication and social application with ease, and the Android Market which grants permission to more than 30,000 applications.

Sprint Vice-President for product development, Fared Adib says that, “Nexus One is a powerful device that belongs on a powerful network. This is another step in our continued partnership of innovation with Google. Sprint customers already have the option of two amazing Android devices with Samsung Moment and HTC Hero. It is a natural fit for us to add Nexus One to the list of choices available for Sprint customers who want the best value in wireless with the best in Android.”

While talking about the pricing for the phone, Adib said, “While a pricing plan has not yet been determined for Nexus One, we are confident that it will be consistent with Sprint’s commitment to deliver more value than our competitors and keep pricing simple. Right now, our Sprint Everything Data 450 plan with Any Mobile, Anytime gives customers unlimited calling with any mobile phone in America, unlimited text and unlimited Web for just $69.99 per month – the same price AT&T and Verizon charge for just unlimited talk. Our Everything Data plans include unlimited GPS Navigation at no extra charge and annual phone upgrades with Sprint Premier.”

The spec sheet also reveals a 3.7-inch AMOLED 480 x 800 WVGA display, 5MP camera with auto focus, flash and geo-tagging. The phone comes with a 512MB flash and 512MB RAM, and 4GB removable SD card that can be expanded upto 32GB. In addition to this, Nexus also offers new and improved functions like, voice-enabled keyboard, widgets and more.

The phone will not be available through Sprint retail stores, as Google will make the phone available online at google.com/phone. Google’s online consumer channel was specifically designed to bring users closer to selected Android phones.
