Promptu announces ShoutOUT, first voice-to-SMS application for the iPhone

ShoutOUT app and Promptu logo Here’s an interesting application for the iPhone users in US. Promptu Systems announced a new application called ShoutOUT, the first voice-to-SMS application. The new application will simply eliminate the need of typing messages and will take a user’s experience of using the iPhone to a new level.

Instead of typing a message, the ShoutOUT application allows users to dictate their messages which they want to send. Users can dictate it in their natural language and can even check for errors and make corrections for the same and then send the message. Promptu has indeed developed an innovative multimodal talk-and-type mobile phone application for carriers, consumers, manufacturers, travel and transportation companies.

“ShoutOUT makes sending text messages on an iPhone incredibly fast and easy,” comments Chris Shipley, executive producer of DEMO, the premier launch venue for new products, technologies, and companies. “Like a lot of people, I love the iPhone but not its onscreen keyboard. The single-finger hunt-and-peck typing is frustrating and slow. Promptu replaces hunt and peck with a simple, accurate spoken word interface. Thank you, Promptu.”

Text messaging has become one of the most important means of communication today. Text messaging has been exploded in the consumer marketplace. It is been assumed that by next year more than 2.3 trillion text messages will be sent.

The ShoutOUT should be an interesting application for text messaging enthusiasts. A non English version of the application will be soon distributed via major carriers in Europe.

There is no information on availability and price of the application.
