PowerPhone receives Patent for sending images and videos to 911

PowerPhone ILM Software9-1-1 previously enabled users to send text messages in case of emergency. Through the next offering they can further use various multimedia messages for the same. PowerPhone received the United States Patent and Trademark Office named ‘Integrated Call Handler and Email Systems and Methods’. With the use of Incident Linked Multimedia (ILM) software, non-traditional callers utilizing cell phones can seamlessly send messages to 9-1-1 operators anywhere, anytime.

Callers can deliver, formulate and process multimedia messages like texts, videos and pictures to emergency and non-emergency call centers effortlessly. The system will approach the 9-1-1 centers with particular images for continuing the process by using the proprietary message priority engine and locally defined message relevance determinants. For taking necessary actions, the system further sends received messages to the Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management Systems.

Chris Salafia, president and CEO of PowerPhone, stated, “With nearly 90% of today’s mobile devices camera enabled, the public can be an incredible resource for a more prepared public safety response. The potential is limitless. Be it an image of a suspicious person, missing child, video from an accident or even an active shooting, scene specific multimedia can be an invaluable tool in ensuring our responders are better equipped with the one thing they most desire – actionable information.”

Claimed to be the third issue of the company in the last eighteen months, all the three patents are said to be important components of the Total Response Computer Aided Call Handling software. The patent not only increases its level of receiving messages but may also aid in quickly processing the action of an active incident by using location based services.
