Portland receives Google Places kits with interactive window stickers

Google Places kitsJust last month, Google revealed the Hotpot availability that according to the company, would be a ‘different approach to marketing’ while appealing to consumers as well as businesses. According to the official Google Lat Long blog, the premier local marketing campaign has now unveiled across the tech-savvy city of Portland, Oregon. Some of the interesting approaches include business kits, Window Decals, Community events, and Hotpot Jackpot.

In the company’s endeavor to make standout businesses more prominent when they are ‘Googled’, it offers owners Google Places Business Kits that include samples of marketing materials that enable them to get rated as well as reviewed online. There is a bright red interactive window sticker that reads ‘Recommended on Google’ which is infused with Near Field Communications (NFC) technology. Through this inclusion, mobile owners with an advanced handset such as the Nexus S need to only touch their phone to the high-tech sticker for acquiring more information on the selected businesses.

The blog further goes on to state that this endeavor is just the tip of the ice-berg as customers can expect to see more activity from Google’s side in the forthcoming months.
